Silent Moments at Night

Night time has come
And Mums last to bed
One more stop
To the baby’s bed
As she walks in, he is upside down
All his covers are thrown, and his feet are hanging out
She smiles and goes through their nightly ritual
She finds his dummy and his rag
And places them by the teddies
Ready for the morning!
She lifts him up, and puts him the right way up
Careful not to wake him!
She pulls the covers over him
And tucks him in, tight for the rest of the night
She stands in the silence and the dark
And treasures the moment
Of watching her beautiful boy, so peaceful and perfect
She says a silent prayer of Thanks
Thanks for him being hers,
Thanks for the day they have had
And she promises to always love and protect him forever
She promises to always say with pride
“That’s my little boy”
As he settles back to a deep sleep
She kisses him goodnight
And says “Goodnight, my darling. Love you forever”
She walks away, treasuring the silent moments at night!

    Oh this is lovely!

You are far better than me. I’m far to tired and grumpy by bedtime to have such beautiful, peaceful thoughts!!

What a lovely thing to cherish – you will be able to read this in the years ahead and it will bring back all the precious, warm feelings from this time in your life.

Amazingly I wrote this when Baba had his first fit, all those nights of being up to one, two in the morning waiting to give him his meds inspired me to write it! Unbelievable really!

Thank you so much for being so nice about it, I really appreciate it. xx

Oh that’s lovely. I especially like the line “She promises to always say with pride ‘that’s my little boy'”. That’s motherhood right there. x

This is so beautiful. I love the image of the covers thrown and the feet hanging out – so many nights did I find my boys like that. Thanks for linking up and making me smile.
