It’s the little things

Valentine’s day… well what can I say!

We decided this year that we wouldn’t be doing anything for valentine’s day, as five years in to our relationship I don’t think either one of us was that bothered.

Mr L did give me a card in 2006 dated until 2010 so he had already covered himself!!

So it was going to be a non entity in our house.

But it wasn’t all that bad.

Firstly we had a whole 24 hours without Baba, not that it is a good thing. It was bizarre but it was nice as well, as Mr L and I haven’t spent that amount of time together since october 16th 2008, the day before Baba was born. So really that was a big enough gift anyway. (Thanks to my sister.)

So last night we went out for a belated birthday meal, with a few friends which was really nice, we came home went to bed and did not get out of bed this morning until 10am. It was bliss. We were awake but there was no need to get up so we could just stay there and snooze until we really wanted to get up. There was no little man shouting, “mum/dad” in the other room. With a 16 month old boy, that was as good as any valentines present Mr L could have brought me. I then got breakfast made for me when I came down, which scored him some brownie points.

The rest of the day was just chilled, we had a really relaxing day. I did a bit of tidying, Mr L played the XBox, I watched my favourite programmes, and it was just lovely.

When Baba came home he was so snuggly and wanted lots of cuddles, he had missed us, even though he had a great time at Aunties.

There were lots of really simple things, but they added up to a gorgeous happy valentines day for Mr L and me, and one I would like to repeat in the future!
