So my list is up for the 101 things in 1001 days challenge and I have to say I am very proud of myself.
I have done one thing all ready!
I have completed number 18) Change Baba’s cot to a bed.
As Baba has been sleeping in the same room as us since he has been poorly we decided that he was getting better at night so he could go back into his own room, so this was as good a time as any to change his cot into a bed.
So Saturday I was up there all day rearranging his room, as we have taken out his wardrobe as it was half-broken and put in chest of drawers instead. I also had to move a few things around, to protect him from the likes of the radiator etc, and it took all day.
Mr L finally came up and took off the cot side, he has only done the side into the bedroom at the moment and has left the cot side up against the wall, as there is a little gap there and he thought that Baba would fall down the gap. I secretly think that he did this incase he has to put the sides back on, so that he only has one side to do!
We put a chair bed next to the bed, and put up the baby gate on the door, and I went to work!
So Mr L was on his own getting Baba to bed for the first time, in his big boys bed.
Do you know what he didn’t do too bad. Baba went to bed and slept in there, he fell out after two hours, and screamed the place down so when I came home. Mr L was on the chair bed and Baba was asleep in his bed. He fell out again in the early hours of the morning, but other than that he was ok.
Last night, I put him to bed and he was great. He got into bed, laid down and quickly fell asleep. He managed to sleep till about 4.30 am before he fell out onto the chair bed, and woke up, so I think that he is doing ok. So we shall see how he goes tonight.
I just can’t believe that our little boy is now in a grown up bed. He seems to have suddenly grown up, and seems a little older almost. I will be writing about that some other time.
But back to the main reason off this post. The first thing on my list is done, and it feels good to start crossing them off. I have printed the list off, it is going up in the kitchen tonight so the first thing will be a nice cross through number 18. So here is for the next one.
I have started my new book today, so let’s make sure I read it in the time period I have given myself!

When I first read about keeping the one side of the cot up, I thought that you did that to transition… not too much of a change all at once for baby. I thought, what a fabby idea!! hehe. But alas, I think you may be right in Mr L’s ideas on the matter!

You see that is what I thought at first then I thought about it a little more, and with his excuse that Baba may fall through the gap I think it was the latter of the two. Anything to make sure he doesn’t have to do more work than needed hee hee xx

Yep… if there’s a shortcut… a man will find it, and take it! 😉

Totally agree there xx

I just went through the same thing (2nd time after falling out of bed and getting very upset about a month ago) This time we put a toddler side on so no falling out of bed this time. I don’t think she moves around as much now either. What amazes me is each time I go into her room in the morning, she is in bed. I expected mayhem but there are just subtle changes. This morning Piglet and Lau Lau were in bed with her. They weren’t last night! I love this growing up process but it’s hard to believe how quickly it happens

He fell out last night, but when we went in he was falling back asleep on the chair bed, so he wasn’t that bothered. We have thought about the toddler sides, but we have decided against them here as we do have the chair bed, but I think that he will have to have them up Nannies house when she has him as he has a proper big big bed up there. So it is a drop if he falls out of bed up there!
I am still waiting for the mayhem, as at the moment I don’t think he understands that he can get out of bed. So we will have to see.
The growing up process is great, but it is happening so fast isn’t it. Sometimes it shocks me how fast it is actually happening! x

Well done you, it feels great when you start ticking things off the list eh!!
Just an idea as this is what I have done with H – Use a summer light weight full size quilt, but put it over the bed the wrong way. The width is the perfect cot bed length and it leaves you with plenty of over hang on both sides to tuck under the matress. H has been out of her cot for a month or so now, and has only fallen out of bed once. She can still manage to get herself out of it in a morning and it also means she doesn’t kick off her covers and get cold! As with all thingswith kids, it doesn’t take them long to learn habits and whilst the chair bed prevents injury, it also may mean he doesn’t learn to know the size of the bed as quickly etc. I was shocked the quilt thing worked but Mum suggested it to me and it’s been brill.

Thank you that sounds a great idea, we have a blanket that is like that and we have put it the wrong way round. But Baba still manages to roll out of it. I may have to look into the quilt though I think that we may have one some where thanks for that. Will let you know how we get on with it.
Yes it is great when you start crossing them off it is so nice to see them going red instead of black! xx
