Bedtime Mayhem Update

Well night-time sleep has got better in a way! Baba now goes to sleep ok, it still takes a while and he still screams for about 30 mins. But we seem to have a little routine forming again! Yeah!

Baba has a bath and then we go downstairs for him to have his milk. We then go back up when he has had his milk and he has a little story and a cuddle and then I leave the room. He screams but it only seems to be for a few minutes and then he settles himself to sleep.

Last night for the first time he got out of bed and ran towards the door as I walked out of the room, thank god for stair gates. I quickly ran into our bedroom and hid so that he couldn’t see me. I heard him roaming around in his room and thought that I would be going in and finding him fast asleep on his bedroom floor, and would have to move him to his bed once he was asleep.

But no not my little man, he went quiet and I walked past his room twenty minutes later and he had put himself back in bed and had fallen asleep. What a clever boy!

Mr L and I were very pleased with ourselves as we thought that we had cracked it with him. How wrong were we?

He now seems to wake up every night, any when between 11pm and 5am and wont go back to sleep without one of us lying next to him. He will not give in. He continually screams until we go into the room. We wait for him to go to sleep and then try to walk back out of the room, and he just screams. He wont settle properly until either Mr L or myself lay on the chair bed next to him and remain there for the rest of the night.

We are completely stumped with this one, as we really want him to settle himself back to sleep he used to all of the time. But he does become hysterical with out us in the room so we don’t know how to get over it with him. It is becoming a bit of a nightmare situation, as we are both so tired with him waking up every night.

Tonight we are having a break as Baba is going to Mr L’s mums so hopefully we will have a think and will be able to sort it all out when he comes home tomorrow night.

I am thinking of giving in to the stair gate right now. Tonight she tried to escape about 10 times! But I like it when she comes to get me in the morning :-/

That is the debate that we had with the stair gate, Mr L wanted him to come and get us in the morning which I do as well, but there is the escaping part that I was dreading. I don’t know how he has got on tonight at his Nan’s house x
