This time of the year is always a busy one for our family, we have three birthdays in the space of two weeks and they start with my dads, and my nephews only a couple of days apart. So this weekend we went off to my parents for a joint birthday dinner. We decided to take the dogs as well, as they hadn't seen each other for a while, when they saw each other they went mad with each other. They were trapped in the conservatory and Mr L tried to get them out into the garden, and shouted at them both to get out.(C) 2010 And Then All I Thought About Was You
Well our dog went through the door, my sisters dog jumped through the window, yes through the main pane of glass in the window!
The window smashed completely, there were a few triangles of glass left, other than that all the glass was gone.
Everyone in the family froze, my sisters children were hysterical. Mr L and my brother-in-law checked both the dogs and they were both fine.
My father was not!
He was furious, he is a very house proud man. He took a lot of calming down, thankfully my brother-in-law managed to do this, everyone was sorry and my sister kept saying that she would pay for the window. Dad would just have to let her know how much it was. Dad agreed, to be disputed by mum as she said that my sister would not have to pay as they would claim on their home and contents insurance which amazingly no one had thought about until then. My sister looked relieved at this and Dad agreed that they would make a claim. Then Mum saved the day by offering everyone a cup of coffee, no one drinks tea in our family otherwise it would have been tea. Tea solves all lives problems after all! Then it was present time.
We went on and had a good day, no one mentioned the incident.
Monday morning Mum rang their insurers and the glass is getting sorted. It made Mr L and I think though, when our money has been tight, especially when he was redundant we debated about our insurances but you never know what is around the corner, and they are there for a reason. They are something that you can not afford to have, I hate to think how much Mum and Dad’s window would have cost without the insurance. I am so glad we have insurances now!
P.S. My sisters dog is fine, not a cut on her, just a bit of a bloody nose that’s all, my dog is fine, all the children and adults have recovered from this event! All is now fine.
