The Gallery – Motherhood

This week over at The Gallery the theme is Motherhood.

Now I admit I struggled with this one, as motherhood means so many things to me. I firstly thought about a picture of Baba and I when he was first born and then I thought about a picture of Baba and I together some when else but none of these mean motherhood too me. It was really hard as I just couldn’t find the right picture, but I did in the end.

But first what is motherhood to me.

Motherhood is hard, it is tiring, scary, fun, enjoyable, stressful, emotional and difficult. Sometimes it can be all of these in one day!

In the short 19 months that I have been a mother Baba has brought me so much stress, tiredness and worry, but also so much joy, happiness and laughter.

I have never been as scared as I was the day that he had his first febrile convulsion, and I have never run as fast as I could the day he had his second. The days and nights that I have sat in hospital with him just watching my little man poorly and wishing I could swap places with him just so that he was better.

The nights I have sat at home with him, begging him to sleep and not be playing at 2am in the morning as mummy is so tired and daddy has to get up soon so I can’t have a break!

My breath stopped the day he flipped over and cracked his head. Literally stopped!

But my breath stops every time I enter his room, just before bed and he is laid there fast asleep, Roo and his rag curled up around him. Dummy in his mouth, sucking and snoring the night away. Every day I am amazed at what Mr L and I created.

Everyday he just amazes me with something new. At the moment words are the new things we learn everyday! It is such a joy to listen to.

I love that he so amazed with the world, every thing in his live usually ends in a “wow” as it is so wonderful and new.

But the best thing about motherhood, is the fun and the laughter. The fact that you can roll around on the floor and just laugh and play. There is nothing more wonderful than hearing Baba laugh, it fills my heart every time I hear him, and I will never ever tire of that sound…

Even if we do have to sit in the car outside our house for a further 20 minutes, because Daddy is just so damn funny!

Go and have a look at some of the other entries for The Gallery as it is an amazing week.

Such a lovely photograph, this theme should have been a vlog shouldn’t it- so difficult to sum up Motherhood with one image. There’s nothing better than the sound of a baby/child laughing. Mine has such an infectious, dirty laugh. We have recordings of it, it’s a sound I never want to forget. Love your blog by the way, glad to have found you. xx
