So today for the first time ever, I got out the slow cooker that my sister gave me and we tried it out.
I had no clue what to do with it, so of course I chose the place where everyone knows the answer to everything, Twitter. I vaguely remembered that The Moiderer had some slow cooker recipes on her blog, so I tweeted her and I was right. She told me to click on the picture of the slow cooker to get some recipes. So off I trotted and there are some lovely recipes on there. Lots that I want to try.
But I thought that I would start with something that I all know we like, sausages, and I found this from the Five’s F’s blog sausages in onion gravy. I knew that we would all like this.
So this morning when Mr L was still in bed and Baba was drawing I prepped all of the ingredients and put them into the slow cooker and put it on. Ready for our tea this evening. We went out for the day leaving it cooking.

We came home and the house smelt lovely, we still had a couple of hours to wait, so we got on with Sunday afternoon activities. Baba slept, I read blogs and tweaked my blog, Mr L played Fifa we are fun in our house don’t you know.
Just before tea, I quickly made some mash, did some veg and put in some yorkshire puddings, and dished up the food.

Do you know what it was lovely. The sausages just melted in your mouth, and they had a gorgeous sweetness to them as well, from the sugar with the onions. It was a weird taste at first as you are not prepared for the sausages to be so soft but it was really nice. Mr L liked it, Baba liked it although he didn’t eat a huge amount which is normal and I liked it. Which is actually the biggest test because I don’t like gravy and I thought it tasted gorgeous.
So thank you for the recipe The Five F’s it was gorgeous. If you want to see the recipe please go and take a look and if you want to see a collection of slow cooker recipes please go to The Moiderer’s site and click on the slow cooker just like the one below!

Isn’t that funny – I’ve just fished my slow cooker out from the cupboard today, but won’t be using it until later in the week. I was a late starter in the slow cooker department, but I’ve made some fab boeuf bourguignon and coq au vin in the past! Your sausage recipe appeals, so I think I shall give that a whirl soon!
Happy slow-cooking! x

I have never used it before, my sister gave me one and it just sat in the cupboard because to be honest I didn’t know what to do with it. But thanks to The Moiderer, I got a bit brave and decided to go for it. It was such a lovely dish so we shall being having a go at some of the other recipes soon as well I think. Happy slow cooking to you too xx

Oh excellant, will have to get into this I think the stuff you can do with them sounds amazing. We are going to buy a bigger one when we get back from holiday as ours is tiny, so will then be able to do even more! Yeah!
