The Gallery – Favourite Photo

This week the theme over at The Gallery is your Favourite Photo! Now I have already used this picture before for The Gallery – One Day In August Sunday 29th but I wanted to use it again as it is my favourite and there is a story behind it!

(C) 2010 And Then All I Thought About Was You

I love this picture for many reasons, mainly because it is off my two favourite men in my life! But there are special reasons that it is so important to me!

Mr L and I met in 2005 and he was a fun-loving character, he always loved messing around and just playing like he is here. That all but disappeared some when in the year of 2009. He had been made redundant, and was out of work for 6 months. He eventually found another job, but at half his pay previously. He quickly hated it and it got to him, but he found another one at even less pay but it was a job. However the struggles and strives of going from two people’s wages, down to only one and then less than half of that wage took its toll on Mr L.

He no longer smiled. He didn’t have those mad moments of playing and messing around. He became hostile, and quiet and very much in himself. I had temporarily lost the man I had fallen for.

It was hard, really hard as we lived on egg shells for a long time, Baba didn’t know his real Daddy not the one that Mummy knew. He only knew the Daddy that he had become.

The stressed, whole world on his shoulders Daddy. The Daddy that was doing everything to keep the roof over our heads, the Daddy that was working all the hours under the sun…just to survive. But then too tired to live!

This picture means so much to me, as this is the first picture of real fun and laughter between Baba and Mr L. It is not put on, it is real. Both of them were in hysterics, both didn’t know I was taking it, and it is a real Father and Son moment. It was the moment Mr L started to be his old self!

We are getting there now, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Mr L finally sees that we have each other that’s what matters.

It’s the above moments that are the most precious. They are the ones that count, that make us smile, and fill our hearts with joy, and that is why this is my favourite photo!

Go over and see some of the other great entries this week.

What a touching story to a great photo and one that I think a lot of people can relate to at the moment.
I’m glad that Mr L is getting back to his old self. As long as people have each other that’s all that matters. I tell my husband that a lot but it’s easier said sometimes!

I’m so happy to hear things are getting better, albeit slowly but they will and I look back and see those laughs and smile myself. Keep on smiling xx

Great photo and lovely post. A similar thing happened to my husband, he wasn’t on less money but his self esteem was affected when he was made redundant. It has made it difficult in the house to cope with his mood swings but we’re working through it. Good luck with everything. Both your boys look lovely. X
