Slow Cooker Mince And Dumplings

Mince and dumplings, yum yum.

This has to be one of my all time favourite foods, it is something my mum made when I was a child, and I have always loved it, especially when it is wet and cold. Just like it was yesterday.

This time however I decided to do it in the slow cooker, and it was yummy! Luckily we found a bigger slow cooker at the weekend, so we can now do the whole dish in the slow cooker! So it was easy.

It was such a hit that Baba had two helpings, so too me that is a hit! For such a hit I just had to share it with you all.

Ingredients:

A packet of mince

2 Carrots

1 Parsnip

2 Handfuls of Mushrooms

2 Potatoes

1 Red Onion

1 pint of beef stock

1 Packet of Dumpling Mix (I don’t make mine own, my mum pulled such a face at this, but it is so easy out of the packet!)

Method:

I peeled and chopped all of the carrots, parsnips and mushrooms into small pieces. (You can use any vegetables that you want in this, I don’t think it matters). Once these were chopped up I fried them off in the frying pan for five minutes and then added them to the slow cooker.

I peeled and chopped the potatoes, and again fried them for 5 minutes in the frying pan and then added into the slow cooker.

I then fried the onion, and mince until it was browned off and added it to the slow cooker.

I mixed all the contents up in the slow cooker and added the beef stock and put the slow cooker on high for seven hours to cook. (Obviously put your slow cooker onto the required setting for your slow cooker)

After 6 hours I made the dumplings as per the instructions on the packet and added these to the slow cooker, for the last 40 mins. I did turn these round after 20 mins just so that they would colour slightly.

This was a lovely meal and it will definitely be cooked again in this house, and it is a really cheap budget meal as well. Which is a great bonus!
