Swimming

Yesterday we took Baba swimming. It was the first time we had been swimming for a long time and it showed.

Baba was very reluctant at first, he wouldn’t leave Mr L’s arms and just wanted to be carried in the pool. He got upset if Mr L tried to move him off his chest and just hold his hands.

This worried me.

I suppose the lack of swimming is my fault. I am not a great swimmer and did not learn myself until I was eight or nine years old. I don’t like water in my face and hate to swim under water. Swimming full stop does not come naturally to me. I always said that I didn’t want that to be the case for Baba. More

Dear So And So….

Dear Mr Postman,

Seriously I can not believe that it will take you two and a half hours to get back to the sorting office for my parcel to be there to collect it. Firstly you could walk around the whole of this town three times over in two and a half hours. Sort it what the hell are you doing?

Love Disgruntled impatient person waiting for parcel!

At Last…

When Baba was born his bottom eyelashes grew into his eyes, and touched his actual eyes. This happened on both eyes, and we were told by the midwife who came to see us on the ward that it was a common condition and that he would grow out of it.

When he was around three months, I had his three-month review and mentioned his eyes once more. Again we were told he would grow out of it, and to wash his eyes and gently pull his lower eyelid down to manipulate the correction.

Between three months and his ten month review, Baba had a few instances of conjunctivitis that we went to the doctors about and got antibiotics, all the while mentioning that his eyelashes didn’t seem to be improving. We told the doctors that we were concerned that they were irritating Baba and that they were contributing to the conjunctivitis and asked whether there was anything that could be done about it?  More

Halloween

Obviously today was Halloween, but it was the first one in our house to be celebrated.

We usually hide out for Halloween I have to say, neither Mr L or myself being that bothered, but today we made an effort for Baba!

We went down to my sisters and he had a Halloween party with them. This was basically a little tea, with fingered rolls, blood filled eggs, and worm jelly! Which was a massive hit.

The children then carved a pumpkin,  More

Chasing I want…

I am always chasing things at the moment. I have a point where I want things to be but never seem to get there, just constantly chasing it! It is driving me mad!

1) I want the house tidy! I mean tidy, really tidy. I want the kitchen sorted, the office clean that would be a lovely thing.

2) I want the ironing done, we have so much we can’t actually tidy our bedroom as there is too much ironing!

3) I want all the washing done. More

Those First Few Moments!

When I found out I was pregnant with Baba I knew that I would be one of those mothers that had to record absolutely every moment in his life.

I was not wrong, we have thousands, and I am not lying there of pictures of him. We have home-made films, scrapbooks, professional photos, photos in frames round the whole house. You name it we have it.

In the past two years we have taken so many pictures and a day has never gone by without a camera very near someone in the house! I have just never wanted to miss a thing! More

Orange Upside Down Cake

(C) And Then All I Thought About Was You

I made this for Mr L’s Mum’s birthday. It was a real lets just put it together and see what we come up with cake. We had lots of oranges in the house and I thought that it would be a nice cake to make. Do you know what it turned out lovely!

Mummy and Baba Moment!

You have a nappy and vest on that’s all you need, your temperature has been up all day.  Your vest is undone and hanging open round your knees.

You strut round the room like you own it, and come over, crossing your arms on my news, resting your head in your hands. You look up

“Mummy Nemo” your eyes pleading for what you want.

“A little bit and then bed” I can’t say no to that face. More

Birthday Presents and Cards

So yesterday was Mr L’s mums birthday and I had a task on my hands. After he walked around the shops on Saturday and decided that he didn’t like anything that was for sale he asked me to make her an album. Great if you generally have  a bit longer than 48 hours.

Even worse when those 48 hours are reduced to 24 hours,  because the Sunday you are supposed to be getting the photos, you forget to take the disc with the pictures on out with you! More
